- Burgh Island Causeway is set in one of the
most beautiful unspoilt coastal regions in Europe - officially
designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
- Opposite the apartment is Burgh Island itself,
steeped in folklore and legend, one time haunt of pirates and smugglers
and hideaway for the rich and famous.
- Edward and Mrs Simpson enjoyed its seclusion, Agatha
Christie wrote here and Noel Coward came for two days and stayed three
weeks! You can walk to the island with its famous Art Deco hotel and
ancient Pilchard Inn at low tide, or ride on the unique sea tractor at
high tide.
- Bigbury on Sea is a great place to visit
anytime of the year with its superb coastal walks, sailing, wind surfing
fishing and golf. The wonderful safe sandy beach is washed clean twice
daily by the incoming tide. The views over Bigbury Bay are some of the
finest in the West Country. Whilst here, visit the picturesque towns of
Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe. Nearby Totnes holds an Elizabethan
Market every Tuesday in the summer.
- The historic city of Plymouth and Dartmoor National
Park are also within easy reach.
- Good pubs and restaurants abound in the area and
you'll never be far from a Devon Cream Tea!
